So for class, we had to find 5 or so links to awesome social media content relating to our super-fan brand, which mine is Converse, and it was supposed to revolve around our social media platform which is Instagram.
So without further ado, here are my five awesome links revolving around Converse on Instagram.
1. So this link is not on the actual Converse Instagram, but I followed a Converse post through the #rubbertracks concert hashtag, a concert held by Converse. I find this content awesome because it shows how invested Converse is in the music scene, and how they are striving to build their brand throughout the world, by helping musicians make their debut. Way to go, Converse!
Why it's awesome: Many Instagram experts believe that in order to build a brand, you need have a personality. Converse is all about fun, music, and adventure. By showing just one of the ways that Converse focuses on music, through the #rubbertracks, it gives a little peak into what makes Converse, well, Converse. And it also gives a little bit of engagement with the brand, hence why the girl is on team #chucksforlife.
2. This post just speaks to my inner artsy-nerd. How cool is this? Not only is this post creative, building support for art (and whatever symbol it stands for), but also builds support for Converse. This is actually installed at their Paris studio. Can you imagine seeing this when you go in to buy a pair of Converse? It would make me want to buy one, or more, just so I could do something like this and show it off. Instagram is also the perfect place to post something like this, speaking to the visual person.
Why it's awesome: One thing experts say to do is to "go behind the scenes". This post does just that. It puts an interesting spin on showing Converse's product, showing them in an unconventional and creative way.
3. So this post focuses on showing how the brand is changing styles slightly, and keeps fans updated on the newest fashions and styles from Converse. It's a really simple type of awesome, but I think that by putting it on Instagram, it allows Converse to draw in the visual people, because they could have easily put the new style out on Twitter or on Facebook, but by just having the picture of different types of shoes and then a few words, it's simple and effective.
Why it's awesome: Every Instagram expert can agree on the fact that you need to "show your products" If you don't show your product, how else do you expect to get people interested in it? This post is simple, but it shows the product, a newer version of Converse sneakers, but it keeps followers updated on the newest thing from Converse.
4. I love this post because it shows what Converse has always stood for: individuality and living life to the fullest. Not only is this a great action shot, it shows a new perspective. And it is a regram from one of their followers, building a connection with their followers.
Why it's awesome: Instagram can be used effectively for businesses, and the biggest piece of advice they give is, "Every brand has a point of view", and that in order to show that point of view, one needs to "choose themes to tell a cohesive story". By doing that, it shows of Converse's point of view, showing that life is an adventure, and when you're on an adventure, you need the right kind of shoes. Not to mention, this post also shows a unique personality, and a unique theme of "sometimes our imaginations only takes us so far" so we need to "show what products can do". In order to be effective Instagram users in business, it is important to give your followers a "shout out" so that they know you care about them and want to see what they are doing with their product. This post does just that, since it is a regram, and it shows them that Converse actually engages with their followers.
5. I really like this post. One, it's an interesting photo view, and it's extremely visual, which is what Instagram is used for. I also find it poetic, since the two street names are "keap" and "hope". This post isn't from Converse's official Instagram, but it is from one of their subdivisions Rubbertracks, which is the music part of Converse's company. Music is a huge part of what makes Converse Converse, and so this post is a good way of always keeping that in mind.
Why it's awesome: This post goes back to an earlier piece of advice from Instagram itself in that "every brand has a point of view". What better way to show that point of view than through the tagline of "We help people keep hope". Isn't that a great tagline? A great personality? It shows that personality through going back to the beginning and showing a little bit of the history behind Converse. It's an effective way to build a brand through visual means.
Okay, so I have one more interesting post that I found. This has nothing to do with Converse or Instagram, but I thought it was the coolest thing.
http://mashable.com/2015/05/01/facebook-london-eye-uk-election/?utm_cid=mash-com-Tw-socmed-link
So England had elections, and so the London Eye decided to do a huge promotion in an interesting way, by lighting up the Eye as a pie chart of the election parties. Not only does this spark interest of the election and results, but it's so cool. It's noticeable, but simple, and it's creative as heck.
Alyssa,
ReplyDeleteGood start but I want you to be consuming content about what makes these posts industry standard or not. You should be quoting experts and articles that you read. See if you can repost some material that you discover on your own about Instagram post best practices.
